LurraCore underground tunnel infrastructure

About

POWERING THE AI ERA
FROM THE GROUND DOWN.

What We Are

LurraGrid is an infrastructure firm. We convert abandoned hard rock mines into LurraCore underground pumped hydro power plants and deliver firm, dispatchable behind-the-meter power to AI data centers under 20-year take-or-pay Power Delivery Agreements.

The AI era demands power at a scale and speed the grid cannot provide. Interconnection queues run five to seven years. Permitting for new generation stretches longer. ESG mandates restrict gas. The result is a structural supply gap between where the compute wants to go and where the power can reach it.

LurraGrid closes that gap. We are not building new infrastructure — we are commissioning infrastructure that already exists, at depth, in proven hard rock formations, across the United States. The mines are built. The shafts are sunk. The geology is validated. We convert them into power plants.

The Model

LurraGrid is an energy arbitrage platform. We acquire curtailed renewable energy at near-zero or negative cost during overnight off-peak windows — energy that wind and nuclear operators generate but the grid cannot absorb. We store it as potential hydraulic head in underground reservoirs. We dispatch it as firm, schedulable power during daytime premium hours.

The data center operator receives power directly behind the meter — no grid interconnection queue, no transmission costs, no fuel exposure. LurraGrid holds the spread between curtailed input and firm output. That spread is the business.

The LurraPDA — Power Delivery Agreement — is a 20-year take-or-pay contract. Infrastructure-grade duration. Infrastructure-grade contract structure. Infrastructure-grade returns.

Why Underground

Surface pumped hydro requires two lakes, a mountain, and a decade of permitting. Underground pumped hydro requires a mine. The United States has thousands of abandoned hard rock mines with existing shafts, proven geology, and clear ownership — mostly municipal or federal. The civil engineering is already done.

LurraAtlas has pre-screened 950 sites across 15 states. Our first three — Mather B in Michigan, Quincy in Michigan, and Comstock in Nevada — represent three different ore types, three different depth profiles, and three different demand corridors. That is the portfolio.

The Name

LURRA

Lurra — earth goddess of the Basque people — lives underground in the caves. She holds amazing treasures in her bosom.

The mines were dug for what was below. We return to them for what they can hold. The treasure now is energy — stored at depth, dispatched on demand, delivered to the machines that run the age we are building.
